My fiance believes it is to help remove the negative stereotypes black men have to endure in our society and thus marketing them in ads with white women helps promote them in a positive manner.
I personally do not buy her reasoning as I think it is more to do it but can't for the life of me figure it out.
Anybody want to take a stab at this without negative comments.
First, Hispanics are not a race so it might be hard to depict an interracial relationship between and non-Hispanic white and a Hispanic white in print advertisement.
My question is why is the media constantly only showing pairings of black men with white women when statistically Hispanics marry whites at 4x the rate and Asian women marry white men at 2x the rate that blacks do.
Why focus mainly on black man white woman pairings when statistically it is the 3rd most common.
You see this pairing of black men with white women in both TV commercials and print ads but I rarely see Asian woman with White man in advertisements or even Hispanics with Whites even though it is the most common.
Even in movies like Annie it was remade with a black/white biracial child and same with Kevin Costner's recent flop "Black or White".
For example on ABC's Modern Family, had the viewer not heard Gloria(Sophia Vergara) speak we might never know that they are an interracial couple.
